ROOMVENT PARTNER:

Welcome

It is our pleasure to welcome you virtually to the 15th ROOMVENT Conference, the leading international event in the area of ventilation and air distribution in rooms, first held in 1987 in Stockholm. Roomvent 2020 is organized by the Energy Department of Politecnico di Torino together with ATI Piemonte. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been postponed and moved online to February 15th – March 15th, 2021.

Energy use in residential, public sector and commercial buildings represents around one third of the world energy consumption and its contribution to the greenhouse effect is just slightly lower. In the last ten years, the share of this sector has decreased by 1.5%, but in absolute terms the final use of energy in buildings has increased from 2500 to 2800 Mtoe. The effort for energy performance in the design and management of new and retrofitted buildings should therefore be intensified, with special attention to the ventilation sector, which is often neglected.

While transmission heat losses can be minimized “at will”, there is an “optimal” amount of ventilation which should be provided to buildings, in order to make them healthy and comfortable while limiting their energy demand. This explains why the correct design of ventilation, in residential, commercial and industrial premises is such a complex issue, entailing both challenges and opportunities, and why Roomvent 2020 will be focused on the theme “Energy efficient ventilation for healthy future buildings”.

The Conference covers a broad range of topics relevant to the main subject of Ventilation, including: research, modelling and experimental methods for air flow characterization, new technologies and ventilation strategies for NZEB, comfort and air quality in indoor environment,  urban and underground ventilation. Some papers also address the particularly important theme of ventilation for health premises.

The ROOMVENT 2020 Conference offers scientists and academics, business professionals like consultants, engineers and architects together with policymakers a forum for disseminating technical information, new ideas, and discuss the latest developments and future direction in the fields of natural and mechanical ventilation. In addition to presentations of technical papers, RoomVent 2020 will also include expert keynote talks and workshops.

On behalf of the whole organizing committee, we warmly welcome you to join us virtually for this important appointment.
